Mikel Grafton graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Law in 1977. Upon graduation Mikell was one of the two first women to serve as Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky in Louisville. Throughout her tenure with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mikell tried multiple criminal trials including immigration fraud, multiple defendant white collar fraud, multiple defendant and state illegal drug conspiracies, bank robbery and bank fraud, air traffic control litigation and defense of government agencies including medical malpractice and premises liability. She was commended by the Secretary of Agriculture and other agencies for successful prosecutions.
In 1983 Mikell left the public service arena and began a private practice. Over the course of the last thirty one years, she has focused her practice on civil litigation, representing clients in matters concerning medical malpractice, employment discrimination, contract litigation, social security, worker’s compensation, insurance bad faith and related arson litigation, ERISA, breast implant litigation, restraint of trade and property litigation.
Mikell is licensed to practice in Kentucky and Florida.
